Learning to Understand The Assignment
We're taking a slight detour in the how Growl Louder Adventures came to be with this week's journal entry ironically titled "Learning to Understand The Assignment". It is important though to the core of everything we aim to do here as a community, and also what I strive for as an individual.
I used to think that the bad things that happen to us in life, are punishments, that pain was a punishment, but I've learned that the Day can only make us if we choose to let it do that, but some days we falter because we lack the strength necessary at the time. Now that does sound like there are things we are unable to achieve, and realistically some of them might just be. But it's important to understand, that they are not meant to be punishment, but rather experiences we can temper ourselves on and become stronger.
This journal allows me to recollect these moments where I have been tested and tempered, but as I stand here today, am a much stronger person physically, mentally, and spiritually that I probably ever have been. Because of those hard times, I am learning the path I am meant to walk, my purpose in life, and where I can find peace. I can choose to react to bad energy, and each day get better at understanding that not everything requires much thought or at times even a response or reaction. That part is a ton harder than everything else, but I am certainly trying!
I also realized that part of the content we are creating here, are the amazing stories of the first Wisconsin lumberjacks and early WIsconsin Settlers. I just finished the book "Wisconsin's Lost Towns" and I am reading a new one called "When White Pine was King" to brush up on some history so I can better understand these areas I am finding and how the folks in these areas might have lived. I can certainly tell a better story if I'm well informed!
Finally, I have also learned that it's easier to use your day to do some good for yourself and others than it is to let your day make you into something you're not a fan of. We all will have some good days and some bad days, but as long as we remember where we are heading and stay the course the world will become a better place. I can't think of a better thought to leave with, so I will see you all next week!
